SUMMARY : London, 1970s - American engineer Robert Caine plans to build a thermonuclear power station in the West Bank, the energy of which would be capable of feeding much of the Third World. Despite the invaluable help of his son Angel, Caine sees his project contested by many luminaries. But, more serious still, the fiercest opponents to the construction of this plant die in strange circumstances. With the support of a journalist, Sara Golan, Caine gradually realizes that his invention could lead to the most gigantic catastrophe the world has known, similar to the apocalypse described in the New Testament!
ABOUT THE FILM :Directed by Alberto De Martino (The Antichrist, Formula for a Murder), Holocaust 2000 is an intense fantasy thriller in which science and religion collide in an incredible way. In the direct line of The Curse (Richard Donner, 1976), Holocaust 2000 keeps the spectator in suspense until its denouement, helped in this by a prestigious cast made up of Kirk Douglas (The Vikings, Spartacus), Agostina Belli (The Night des diables, La Poursuite implacable) and Simon Ward (The Return of Frankenstein), not to mention a once again masterful musical score by Ennio Morricone.
