The small town of Thorpeville is shaken by a series of murders of young women, in which the perpetrator first breaks the victims' necks and then rapes them. By chance, Sheriff Stern and pathologist Roberts discover that the bodies are radioactively contaminated. The trail leads to the local, decommissioned nuclear power plant. Together with reporter Patti Smart, Stern investigates the matter further and finally uncovers the power plant's gruesome secret. But the powerful boss of the nuclear power plant wants to preserve the unimaginable horror by any means necessary.
