A priest defies the ruthless drug lord Franco, who considers a small Mexican town his sole territory and rules it with brutal force. Using a Mayan amulet, the priest summons a dragon-like creature. However, in the ensuing battle with the drug lord's army, he loses his own life. With his dying breath, the priest gives the amulet to a man named Miguel and asks him to go to Los Angeles, the City of Angels, to learn how to wield power over the dragon. In L.A., Miguel learns how to protect his town with the help of the powerful Mayan demon, a winged serpent.
