J.R. Bookwalter – The Dead Next Door (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack)

The Dead Next Door Original Motion Picture Soundtrack presents the complete score from J.R. Bookwalter's landmark 1989 zombie epic, fully restored from the director's original source material and mastered specifically for vinyl. Bookwalter wrote, directed, and scored the ambitious independent horror film, which was famously financed by Sam Raimi, who served as executive producer under the pseudonym "The Master Cylinder" using part of his Evil Dead II salary. Bruce Campbell also supervised post-production sound and provided the voices for two characters. Produced over nearly four years in Akron, Ohio on Super 8mm film, The Dead Next Door became a cult classic for its inventive gore effects, ambitious scope, and relentless zombie action.

The score follows the film's journey as the elite Zombie Squad battles a deadly virus that reanimates corpses into flesh-hungry monsters while uncovering a sinister religious cult determined to replace humanity with the undead. From Washington, D.C. to rural Virginia and the suburbs of Akron, the music underscores the film's escalating tension, action, and horror through fifteen atmospheric compositions.

This deluxe gatefold edition is pressed on 180-gram green and yellow translucent serum vinyl. Every track has been restored directly from Bookwalter's original recordings, making this the definitive vinyl presentation of one of independent horror cinema's most celebrated soundtracks.
