Language of Love
-
£18.00
The world's first serious sex enlightenment film. Sexologists drink coffees, smoke pipes and talk sex, illustrated by scenes with actors and authentic intercourse.
The language of love managed to break through the contrast of the film censorship against sex depictions on the white screen. The film became one of the biggest economic successes in Swedish film history. It cost 700 000 SEK to produce and already pulled 6.5 million SEK into revenue in the first year.
In London, 30 000 people demonstrated against the film, led by Cliff Richard. On the placards said: “Sweden – more porn, more suicide, more alcoholism and more gonorrhea every year.” The language of love was completely banned in Norway and seized by the American customs, after a failed smuggling attempt. It was released by the Supreme Court years later.
The film is digitally restored by the Swedish Film Institute.
