Les Robots - Intermission | Optigan

It's hard to believe that three years have passed since the last LES ROBOTS full-length album was released, but the Dutch instro-experimentalists return with their much-anticipated new album: Intermission | Optigan. The 12 songs on this album were built, in large part, around the warped charm of a broken Optigan, a forgotten Mattel (He-Man, Barbie) keyboard from the late ’60s. As a result, this record is packed with instrumental robo-weirdness, but also includes some great twangy guitar work and intricate rhythms. Drawing inspiration from Joe Meek, The Ventures, Jean Jacques Perrey, 50s/60s soundtracks, Stockhausen, Takeshi Terauchi and more, Intermission | Optigan somehow feels more human, playful, and alive than most music on Earth today. Not bad for a crew of iron idiots from beyond the stars. So sit back, pour yourself a cold cocktail, and let these meticulously crafted sonic adventures carry you away. The album was recorded and produced at Studio Teepdek, which is where recent releases by Fleur, The Kryng and The Krontjong Devils were created.
