Repeated Viewing – Strip Their Flesh / The Artefact (Blue Shell)

First new Repeated Viewing music in almost two years – Glasgow’s synth maestro Alan Sinclair returns with a soundtrack double bill!
Like any child of the 1980s, Repeated Viewing grew up on a steady diet of Italian cannibal films and Hammer House of Horror. Rewinding dusty VHS tapes in his Glasgow bedroom, in his imagination he was stalking the fleapits of New York’s notorious 42nd Street, seeking out the latest grisly grindhouse double feature.
Now in 2024, Alan Sinclair returns to Spun Out Of Control with an imaginary soundtrack double bill that evokes the feelings and music of that era.
Side A’s Strip Their Flesh imagines cocksure jungle explorers set upon by hungry cannibals, its music tipping a pith helmet to the likes of Cannibal Holocaust, Eaten Alive and Mountain of the Cannibal God, the soundtracks for which were often as contrastingly beautiful as such Video Nasty era films were grisly.
Side B’s The Artefact is a John Carpenter-esque score to the tale of a cursed ancient relic, an imagined soundtrack for the type of early 1980s B-movie we might find starring Doug McClure as our hero, Patrick McGoohan as a seedy museum curator who knows more than he lets on and Glynis Barber as the bookish love interest.
Catalogue number SOS 066, the double bill of Strip Their Flesh / The Artefact arrives in the shape of a limited edition, hand numbered cassette tape and download, with exclusively commissioned cover and inlay art by Eric Adrian Lee. There are two cassette shell variants to choose from: sink your teeth into ‘Blood and Bone’, a bone coloured cassette with blood red print, or be dazzled by ‘Artefact Aura’, an eerie translucent blue that apes the album’s cover art.
