When mobsters kill the owner of the exotic Club Haiti (Larry Don Johnson), girlfriend Diana Sugar Hill (Marki Bey) calls upon a voodoo priestess Mama Maitresse (Zara Cully) to enact justice. Together, they summon lord of the underworld Baron Samedi (Don Pedro Colley) who resurrects from the bayou a squad of silver-eyed, cobwebbed zombies to perform Diana's bidding. Released by American International Pictures in the hopes of repeating the success of Blacula (1972), Sugar Hill (1974) has overshadowed it's blaxploitation horror predecessor and become a grindhouse classic.
